I do not believe the problem to be that of a rogue doctor or individual staff member or the medical group as an entity would correct the problem. My understanding is that Orthopedic Medical Group's Officers & Administrators knowingly allow Dr. Gonzalez to massively overbook, and imply they will do nothing to correct the problem.
This overbooking means at least an hour and a half to two hour wait to see the doctor per patient. (Compared to Dr. Shoji's 3-10 minute wait to see the doctor.)
Additionally, all doctors at OMG use the same office staff.
Past problems I experienced with the staff are:
> Failure to return calls
> Rude & arrogant attitudes
> Poor communication skills
> Apathy towards patients.
> Continual loss of paperwork resulting in the paperwork being re-faxed over 4 times in 3 weeks.
As a Group, I believe they overcharge for simple items. They (OMG) charge $20.00 for completing disability paperwork while Dr. Shoji (whom I would highly recommend), charges only $5.00.
Follow-Up
An Officer of Orthopedic Medical Group, Inc. assured me, he would see my records were expedited to a new facility, as OMG refused to continue my treatment (that’s how I got my referral to a new group).
On July 11, I requested my complete chart be forwarded to my new Orthopedic Doctor, Dr. Shoji. All information on the request (the new doctor’s address, release, etc) was in order.
Eight full business days later I get a phone call wanting to know where to send my records (the name and address was of the new doctor was on the release). Ten business days later, I get my records in my mail box at home.
All documents and envelopes are available for date inspection on request.
I don’t believe this to be a problem of one doctor; I think this is inherent in the entire group and staff.
