Two inaccuracies in my chart stuck out in my mind. What would the motivation be to note these things?
The first was that it states Dr. Gonzalez reviewed the complications and potential dangers of surgery and patient wishes to move forward.
What I was told is that it would be sore after the surgery. It would be in a splint and I wouldn’t be able to use it while it was healing.
The reality was that the pain was so intense that Norco (twice as strong as Vicodin, 10 mg hydrocodone & 325 mg Acetaminophen) barely took the edge off. It was during this time that my calls and messages were ignored.
Dr. Gonzalez stated that he thought physical therapy would be needed.
When my arm was removed from the splint, it barely had enough strength to painlessly pick up a pencil and my range of motion was about a half of an inch in any direction.
Physical therapy was not only needed to strengthen my arm, it was also needed to simply be able to write.
Why would the doctor say one thing, and note another? CYA?
Another notation in my chart states that dressing was applied after my sutures were removed.
After the stitches were removed, nothing was applied. Do you think this was a CYA notation, or do you think the group gets reimbursed from the insurance for supplies? |
